CoDL and CaDL: Architecture Description Languages for Governance and LLM

In this session, Paul Preiss introduces two groundbreaking approaches to modern architecture: CoDL (Context Definition Language) and CaDL (Context Architecture Description Language). As organizations grapple with the dual challenges of rigorous governance and the rapid integration of Large Language Models (LLMs), traditional, static documentation is no longer sufficient. Preiss demonstrates how these domain-specific languages provide a machine-readable framework for defining architectural context, enabling both human architects and AI agents to “understand” the structural constraints of a system.

Attendees will explore how CoDL and CaDL facilitate automated governance, ensuring that architectural intent is preserved across the development lifecycle while providing the high-fidelity context LLMs need to generate relevant, compliant, and architecturally sound code.
